Kréma Shaving Gel

Package Design

This assignment I was asked to create packaging design concept that was specifically targeting men, women, and a neutral design. My concept for this package design was inspired by a clownfish. A clownfish can change sex from male to female and reproduce on its own. I wanted to mirror the fluidity of gender that is occurring within our society. I designed the neutral background to be the clown-fish pattern abstracted but staying closer to the oranges for the neutral brand. I did this because orange doesn’t contain the male or female stigma that come with blues, pinks, or purples. I crafted the brand name from the Greek word for Cream (kréma) and merged it with the Greek words for; her (aftín), him (aftón), and they (aftoí) which is a pronoun used by those who identify as non-binary. I said, “shaving gel for you.” to mean anyone. I didn’t want to say “they” because it might come off as pandering.
